Weekly Goals Vol. 22

My goals for this week continue on from last week. I need to get assignments done for uni, I’m halfway through my book and I really like the Field Notes size for inserts, so I want to make more of them.

  • Complete CCC505 Assignment #2
  • Complete CCC501 Assignment #2
  • Prepare College Binders for MA502
  • Design more Field Notes inserts
  • Read Aristotle and Dante discover the Secrets of the Universe
  • Edit The Bravery of the Soldier for contest submission
  • Vote in the Election

Weekly Goals Vol. 21

It’s been a while since I posted my last Weekly Goals. Life’s been pretty hectic in the meantime, and I didn’t get many chances to actually sit down and blog.

But my first year of my M.A. is almost up and I need to focus. So back to the weekly goals list it is.

  • Complete CCC505 Assignment #1
  • Complete CCC501 Assignment #1
  • Prepare College Binders for CCC501, CCC505 & MA502
  • Design Field Notes inserts
  • Design Midori inserts
  • Read Aristotle and Dante discover the Secrets of the Universe

You’ll notice I am no longer doing supplement courses. It all got too stressful, and I need to focus on my studies. I’m not about to ruin my A+ average grade for non-credit online courses. I’ve realised I need to slow down and prepare properly. And I also want a bit of time each day just for myself, to sit somewhere with a coffee or tea, and read a book for a while.

Weekly Goals Vol. 20

Right then. Super-squeaky-bum time has started. I have to finish course MA500 by July 31, and I’m hoping to complete most of CCC505 by then as well.

Plus, my supplement courses. But I’m away next weekend (not this coming one), so I really need to cram. But my birthday is now behind me, the flat is clean, and I won’t be baking any time soon, so there’s hope. I stocked up on coffee and juice, I’ve got loads of cookies and teacakes left over – I can do this. Hopefully without distractions.

Here’s my weekly to-do list, as part of ROW80:

ROW80 – Birthday Edition

This is my first check in of ROW80 Round 3.

As you may know, Saturday was my birthday, so I had to get everything ready for the two parties I hosted at my flat this weekend. Saturday with friends, today with family. That meant spring summer cleaning absolutely everything, spending several hours per day baking in preparation of the parties, shopping for ingredients and so on.

Unfortunately, that meant I didn’t get much done for uni, despite being on a tight schedule. But once I was done cleaning the chosen room for the day at around 1am, I didn’t fancy sitting down to study anymore.

I did get a little bit done. Well, 1 assignment. On that course, the assignments are usually short and quite easy and quick to write down. So imagine my surprise when I opened the brief to find I had to watch 1 1/2 hours worth of video, write about those, then read supplement material for the videos and write about those as well. So: more work than usual in the one week when time is at an absolute minimum. Just brill.

That means I have loads to catch up on next week. But at least the flat is clean…

ROW80 Round 3: List of Goals

Is it already time for the third Round of Words in 80 Days of 2015? Where did the previous two rounds go??

A new round also means a new set of goals to achieve. I actually did really well in the last round, and I already know I’ll be busy with grad school. I won’t get to do much writing, but I hope to get quite a bit of other stuff done.

For those just joining this blog and those unfamiliar with ROW80, the rules are very simple. You need to have a blog. There are weekly check-ins via the Linky on the ROW80 Website you’ll need to link an update to on Wednesdays and Sundays. You get to set your own rules – they just have to be measurable. Instead of saying “I want to read more books” you should say “I want to read [x amount] books” or “Write 2 chapters per weeks” etc.

There are no prizes, but there is a great community that checks in on the progress you’ve made, and encourages you to keep going.

Weekly Goals Vol. 17

Right. I need to get my College Head back on and get some serious studying done. I’ve fallen behind and I can’t afford to be idle.

This week’s list of goals is incredibly long, but I am hoping that it will keep me so occupied that I don’t waste time. I’ve only got a little over a month left to get the bulk of assignments done before I go on holiday, and I really want to be done before then.

There are two deadlines this week, so those modules and assignments won’t show up again next week. Wish me luck.

Sad ROW80 Update

Hello ROWers,

once again, it’s the end of the week and that means it’s time for the ROW80 Sunday Check-In.

I received some sad news from New Zealand yesterday.

Denise, the mother of the host mum I stayed with back when I was an exchange student in 2003, passed away yesterday aged 66. She was a loving, kind lady with a fighter spirit, enduring many ailments and setbacks with good humour and optimism. A fighter to her last breath, she sadly succumbed to complications from cancer in her sleep. I hold many fond memories of time spent with Denise, and I will always cherish them and remember her the way she was.  Here she is with her husband, on New Year’s Day 2004, the way I knew her:

Denise and her husband, my host grandparents when I was living in New Zealand 2003 / 2004

I hope she is now at peace, and my thoughts are with my New Zealand family.
