Setting Inspiration: African commune

Inspiration for today is a communal yard in Africa, and the photo was taken by yours truly. It’s located in Accra, Ghana.

What’s going on? Who lives here? What are the women talking about? What games do the kids play? What sort of meals are prepared, how do they go about preparing those meals?

Setting inspiration.

Is your character on board that train? Are they the one with the bike? Are they next to the photographer and realise they are on the wrong platform? Is the train arriving or just leaving? Is your character running to catch the train? Where are they going? Are they meeting someone?

Maybe this picture inspires a scene in your stories. It did inspire me!

This is a café, art gallery, frozen yoghurt parlour and shop in Düsseldorf, Germany. The upstairs bit has a bar with a long table along one window wall and one long one in the middle of the floor, with several small ones in the nooks and against the other windows. It’s comfy and the coffee is really good. Wild mix of colours and chairs, art books on the tables, newspapers available – my new favourite hangout.

It’s called Toykio.
