ROW80 Check in – Not a good start

It’s the first Sunday check in of Round 4 of ROW80 today, and I’m afraid to say I haven’t got as much done as I had hoped.

I’m still working on my university assignments, and I’ve not had a chance to read more of my book Aristotle and Dante discover the Secrets of the Universe. So I’ll carry that over into next week.

I did, however, get a Midori insert designed, and I’m offering it as a FREE DOWNLOAD. It’s a Fitness & Food Journal for regular size Midori Traveler’s Notebooks.

What I did, though, was enter my 2013 NaNoWriMo story into a Fanfic contest over at Inkitt. As I’m new to the platform, those with established fanbases there (and pre-contest likes) are currently winning. So please take a second of your time, follow this link, click on the little heart to give The Bravery of the Soldier (a Sherlock Fanfic about John Watson’s army days and state of mind since) a LIKE and make this fellow ROWer’s day!

So, no real progress to report for this week yet. I’ve been easily distracted with work, gran in hospital, and a wedding to attend among other things. I’ve got focus now, though, and a new packet of ground coffee (and chocolate covered coffee beans) so fingers crossed next week will be better! Still aiming to complete 5-7 assignments by October 31. I need to finish 5, the other 2 are extras for another course. It’d be nice to have them all done by then, but the 2 are not that urgent yet.

Wish me luck for next week, guys!

Welcome to the Final Round of Words 2015

How is it the start of the final Round of Words in 80 Days for 2015 already?? Where did the year go? This final Round will take us right up to Christmas, finishing on December 24.

Anyway, I know that last Round I only really got my studies done. I’ll try to do better this Round! So without further ado, here’s my list of goals:

  • Finish course CCC501 by 08/11
  • Start course MA502
  • Start course CCC503

ROW80 Update with Holiday Snapshots

I haven’t checked-in for ROW80 in a while, as I was away.

Now that I am back home, I’m getting back in the swing of things, even though next week I’ll have a distraction as well, in the form of the lovely Doris, a vegan chef who is coming to stay with me and do a cooking workshop!

If you’ve read my Weekend Coffee Share, you’ll know that I promised photos of my trip to the UK, during which I was in London, Cardiff and Brighton. If not, make sure to check out my theatre reviews for Constellations, Three Days In The Country, and Hamlet!

I’ll be posting another goal list tomorrow, so for now there’s not much to say other that I’m back and catching up on things.

Anyway, the photos I promised:

ROW80 – Birthday Edition

This is my first check in of ROW80 Round 3.

As you may know, Saturday was my birthday, so I had to get everything ready for the two parties I hosted at my flat this weekend. Saturday with friends, today with family. That meant spring summer cleaning absolutely everything, spending several hours per day baking in preparation of the parties, shopping for ingredients and so on.

Unfortunately, that meant I didn’t get much done for uni, despite being on a tight schedule. But once I was done cleaning the chosen room for the day at around 1am, I didn’t fancy sitting down to study anymore.

I did get a little bit done. Well, 1 assignment. On that course, the assignments are usually short and quite easy and quick to write down. So imagine my surprise when I opened the brief to find I had to watch 1 1/2 hours worth of video, write about those, then read supplement material for the videos and write about those as well. So: more work than usual in the one week when time is at an absolute minimum. Just brill.

That means I have loads to catch up on next week. But at least the flat is clean…

ROW80 Round 3: List of Goals

Is it already time for the third Round of Words in 80 Days of 2015? Where did the previous two rounds go??

A new round also means a new set of goals to achieve. I actually did really well in the last round, and I already know I’ll be busy with grad school. I won’t get to do much writing, but I hope to get quite a bit of other stuff done.

For those just joining this blog and those unfamiliar with ROW80, the rules are very simple. You need to have a blog. There are weekly check-ins via the Linky on the ROW80 Website you’ll need to link an update to on Wednesdays and Sundays. You get to set your own rules – they just have to be measurable. Instead of saying “I want to read more books” you should say “I want to read [x amount] books” or “Write 2 chapters per weeks” etc.

There are no prizes, but there is a great community that checks in on the progress you’ve made, and encourages you to keep going.
