ROW80 Check in – Not a good start

It’s the first Sunday check in of Round 4 of ROW80 today, and I’m afraid to say I haven’t got as much done as I had hoped.

I’m still working on my university assignments, and I’ve not had a chance to read more of my book Aristotle and Dante discover the Secrets of the Universe. So I’ll carry that over into next week.

I did, however, get a Midori insert designed, and I’m offering it as a FREE DOWNLOAD. It’s a Fitness & Food Journal for regular size Midori Traveler’s Notebooks.

What I did, though, was enter my 2013 NaNoWriMo story into a Fanfic contest over at Inkitt. As I’m new to the platform, those with established fanbases there (and pre-contest likes) are currently winning. So please take a second of your time, follow this link, click on the little heart to give The Bravery of the Soldier (a Sherlock Fanfic about John Watson’s army days and state of mind since) a LIKE and make this fellow ROWer’s day!

So, no real progress to report for this week yet. I’ve been easily distracted with work, gran in hospital, and a wedding to attend among other things. I’ve got focus now, though, and a new packet of ground coffee (and chocolate covered coffee beans) so fingers crossed next week will be better! Still aiming to complete 5-7 assignments by October 31. I need to finish 5, the other 2 are extras for another course. It’d be nice to have them all done by then, but the 2 are not that urgent yet.

Wish me luck for next week, guys!

ROW80 Update – Drowning in papers

It is Sunday today, right? I mean, I’m pretty certain, but I’ve been busy, so if this is next week Thursday I wouldn’t be surprised.

No, it is Sunday after all. I just checked. Well, ok, that means it’s time for another ROW80 Check-In.

ROW80 Midweek Update – BICFOK

My Midweek ROW80 update comes with a stern note to self: BICFOK!!

In case you don’t know what that means, it stands for:

Butt In Chair, Fingers On Keyboard!

No Excuses!
No Excuses!

Out of my ROW80 Goals, the blogging is currently going best, even though I should be focusing on my studies.

I REALLY need to get some serious writing done, especially for my university degree.

But first things first:

ROW80 Wednesday Update #1

Well, A Round of Words in 80 Days started on Monday, and today is the first check-in to see how I’m doing on my ROW80 Goals.

So how am I getting along? Rather well.

I have written two short stories of about 500 words each, one is in English and one in German. I will share them once I’ve typed them up, as I’ve written them by hand.

As for the blogging goals, It’s only been two days. I’ll be able to tell on Monday whether I stuck to my weekly target or not.

I’m still looking around for writing prompts and I’m just putting together a plotting kit with character and setting sheets.

I found some lovely templates, made by asmallbirdorganizes, on Etsy, and I will write about them in more detail in another post.

Until now I’ve written down what was on my mind, but I think this exercise might help me develop a story idea that I could potentially take past the short story stage and into the realms of novellas and novels.
