If We Were Having Coffee… On August 29

Hello my lovelies!

Welcome to this week’s Weekend Coffee Share. How are you?

If we were having coffee today, we’d sit and enjoy the lovely sunshine out on the patio. It is a glorious day, and I’ve got sore muscles from a lot of walking and driving, so I fancy a day at home.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I had a blast this week! My best friend Véronique and her husband Dave came to visit me on their delayed honeymoon and stayed with me from Saturday until yesterday.

If We Were Having Coffee… On August 15

Hello my lovelies!

Welcome to this week’s Weekend Coffee Share! How are you? I’m alright, back from my travels, though wishing I was still on the road.

I’ve been feeling the post-travel slump this week and it’s hit me hard. I got back from London on Sunday night.

If we were having coffee today, I’d first of all tell you that I am busy preparing for next week. On Wednesday, Canadian wholesome chef Doris Fin from Feed Your Bliss will visit me, and she’ll put on a vegan & raw food cooking class on Friday that I’m helping to organise.

Several years ago, I got to know Doris as she kindly volunteered to write for my travel magazine Shoestring. So she contributed pieces about eating raw food while on the road, and how to relax muscles while travelling, and we’ve stayed in touch. So next week, we’ll finally meet in person! I just know she’ll cook up a storm, and I’m really curious what she’ll dish up!

The cooking class is on Friday, August 21, from 5pm till late at Naturfreundehaus Solingen-Theegarten. Fee: €40 but this includes all fresh and local ingredients and the meal we’ll prepare and share together.

We’ve got limited space left, so if you want to participate please get in touch with me beforehand.

After The Bloggers’ Bash Special

The lovely Hugh, whom I met at the Blogger Bash in London, posted this list of all the bloggers, plus pictures and a link to a video of all of us! Check it out!

Hugh's Views & News

It’s been a whole week since the first Annual Bloggers’ Bash and the first Annual Bloggers’ Bash Awards were held in London.  However, the day itself is still very much on my mind.

If we were having coffee I’d be telling you about the Bloggers’ Bash.  Haven’t seen the video yet of all the bloggers who attended, introducing themselves? Then click here and meet the group.

I was very nervous when the day finally arrived.  I’d only ever spoken to Sacha, Ali and Geoff via Google Meet Ups.  However, I received the biggest hugs I’d ever received from people I’d never met before and Geoff presented me with a lovely bunch of sweet peas from his garden.  By the time we sat down and were eating breakfast you could have sworn we’d all known each other for years.

If We Were Having Coffee… On August 1

Hello, my lovelies!

If you’re joining me for this week’s Weekend Coffee Share, you’ll be joining me on the busy streets of London! Welcome!

If we were having coffee today, I’d first of all tell you about last weekend, as I was in Warrington and Manchester then. I had an absolute blast with my bestie. We spent all of Saturday shopping in Manchester, and returned to Warrington knackered but in an extremely good mood.

Sceneframing: TV locations, an iPad, and two Finnish girls

If you are part of a current fandom – no matter whether it’s Sherlock, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, The Walking Dead… the list goes on, – and you follow it somewhat online, you will probably have come across Fangirl Quest’s Sceneframing pictures.

Sceneframing is the brainchild of Tiia Öhman and Satu Walden, two girls from Finland who love to visit filming locations. Together they have travelled around Europe (mainly UK, Ireland and Finland) and the US. Their photos show an iPad with a screen capture from [insert fandom here] in the exact location it was filmed. And the concept has proven so popular, it has become a worldwide phenomenon that left its creators in shock and awe.

(I got to interview the lovely ladies a year ago*. The interview was intended for a publication which ultimately decided not to use it. As I am now free to publish it elsewhere, I didn’t want to deny you this any longer.)

Look inside my (travel) handbag

image

As I prepare for my weekend in the UK (and then, later, my 9 days in the UK), I thought I’d show you what I take with me when I travel.

So here’s my #handbagconfession.

From the top: my Samsung Galaxy 7″ tablet, spare scrunchies.

Middle from left: my Midori Traveler’s Notebook, pocket mirror, Fossil wallet, pencil case, small tube of Rituals “Touch of Happiness” Orange & Cedar Wood Body Cream, business cards, mobile phone (picture shows my phone cover as I took the pic with my phone).

Bottom: glasses case with shades (or empty simply to store my normal glasses, depending on season), Bodyshop Tea Tree Blotting Tissues, Essence Roadtrip Deo Wipes, spare bobby pins, and one or two lipsticks (just in case).

Normally, I don’t take my tablet with me, but I need it as an eReader this time. For my London Trip, I’ll also take my Canon 3000V camera, a zoom lens and rolls of film with me.

Bear in mind, this is for city trips. My proper overland travel bag looks different.  Plus I wouldn’t take lipstick camping, for example. But when I know we’re going out, I keep it in the side pocket, should I need it.

What do you take with you?
