ROW80 Check in – Not a good start

It’s the first Sunday check in of Round 4 of ROW80 today, and I’m afraid to say I haven’t got as much done as I had hoped.

I’m still working on my university assignments, and I’ve not had a chance to read more of my book Aristotle and Dante discover the Secrets of the Universe. So I’ll carry that over into next week.

I did, however, get a Midori insert designed, and I’m offering it as a FREE DOWNLOAD. It’s a Fitness & Food Journal for regular size Midori Traveler’s Notebooks.

What I did, though, was enter my 2013 NaNoWriMo story into a Fanfic contest over at Inkitt. As I’m new to the platform, those with established fanbases there (and pre-contest likes) are currently winning. So please take a second of your time, follow this link, click on the little heart to give The Bravery of the Soldier (a Sherlock Fanfic about John Watson’s army days and state of mind since) a LIKE and make this fellow ROWer’s day!

So, no real progress to report for this week yet. I’ve been easily distracted with work, gran in hospital, and a wedding to attend among other things. I’ve got focus now, though, and a new packet of ground coffee (and chocolate covered coffee beans) so fingers crossed next week will be better! Still aiming to complete 5-7 assignments by October 31. I need to finish 5, the other 2 are extras for another course. It’d be nice to have them all done by then, but the 2 are not that urgent yet.

Wish me luck for next week, guys!

Free Download! Fitness & Food Journal

As part of my preparation for DDP Yoga, I sat down and made myself a little Fitness & Food Journal for my Midori Traveler’s Notebook.

Members of TeamDDPYoga recommend that you not only take 6 Before Pictures in prep, but also get ready and get yourself a heart rate monitor, take your measurements and start watching the food you eat. Many end up with some sort of tracker in a journal, others use whiteboards in their homes.

ROW80 End of Week Update

First of all: I won NaNoWriMo 2014 (yay!)

It’s far from over, and I have too many ideas still flying around in my head. I’ve approached it differently this year and I’m not sure this was better than last year. Then again, I’ve also had more on my plate this year than last.

Yes, they DO know it’s Christmas-time!

It’s been 30 years since Band Aid recorded the original “Do they know it’s Christmas.

Yes, I know the song is catchy and the proceeds are meant to help in Africa (with a new focus on the fight against Ebola this year, as compared to the Ethiopian famine of 1984). The song and all its incarnations as well as the Live Aid and Live 8 concerts raised millions for good causes in Africa and made the world aware of the problems that continent faces. But I still think that the song’s lyrics are simply ignorant and condescending.

I also can’t help but notice that Bob Geldof continues to sit on his millions and donates his “time” on a weekend to re-record a song, while the public is meant to dig deep and part with actual money. He recently publicly blamed singer Adele for not getting involved in Band Aid 30, criticising her for raising a family instead of writing or recording songs. She chose to get involved privately – with a direct donation.
