Hello my lovelies!
Is it Saturday again already? Welcome to the Weekend Coffe Share!
How have you been this past week? What’s been going on in your life? Tell me, while we share a cup of coffee. The weather has turned cold, wet and nasty, so if you’re not driving and you’d like a dash of something stronger in your drink, just say the word.
If we were having coffee today, I’d first of all tell you that we celebrated my gran’s 90th birthday on Tuesday. We even managed to surprise her, as two of her sisters (gran’s the oldest), one brother-in-law and a sister-in-law all managed to come to Solingen for coffee and cake.
If we were having coffee, I’d also tell you that my DDP Yoga DVDs finally arrived. It took ages for them to clear customs, but they made it in one piece. Over the week, I’d also got myself a yoga set consisting of a mat, 2 yoga blocks and a yoga belt, as well as a new infusion water bottle to make sure I get my fresh fruit every day.
Some of the people who know me and my struggle with healthy living and weight loss laugh at the fact that yoga is my latest attempt. And it’s really discouraging to be laughed at for trying to make healthy changes, when before you’ve been laughed at for having all sorts of problems. The thing is though, everytime I tried to lose weight because I wanted to make the change, I managed really well. But everytime someone forced another scheme on me, I failed because my heart was not in it.
DDP Yoga was designed by pro wrestler Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) to be a low impact workout, that engages the muscles safely and does not cause joint damage. It’s especially good for people with back pain like me. It may not be traditional yoga, but you take the positions and then make them your own. If I want to meditate at the end, I can. If I can’t do a proper plank, I can modify by starting on my knees. It’s about building your strength up safely and healthily. You don’t really move around much, the space of the yoga mat is enough, but through dynamic resistance in the positions, you get a proper cardio workout. It sounds perfect for me.
If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that I’ve also started a journal in which I will record all sorts of health and lifestyle related things, like yoga poses to try, home remedies, etc. Basically the sort of things I’d pin on Pinterest, but written out or glued in, to have a handy guide. It’ll also contain my vision board so I’ll have it handy.
If we were having coffee, I’d also tell you that I am excited about my new fountain pen. I’ve been writing with fountain pens most of my life, as it was compulsory at school, but eventually switched to biros. Now I’ve been using my metallic green Lamy Al-Star with B nib and black ink again and loved it, but I saw another one in the shop and fell in love. So now I also own a Lamy Al-Star in copper-orange with M nib and orange ink! It’s a thinner nib, changing the way my handwriting looks on paper, and I have decided to write my NaNo project – currently entitles The Ancients – by hand first. I wrote my first NaNo novel that way, and the words simply flowed better on paper.
Oh, if you’re wondering how last weekend went, regarding that massive deadline I had? I handed in with 30 minutes to spare, but I got 100% on both, the course project brochure and the post-project reflective paper. However, it exhausted me good and proper. I haven’t done anything all week. So, kids, don’t do what I did and leave it to last minute (although it wasn’t voluntarily).
And I’ve got exciting news from the Fandom Writing Contest!! My story The Bravery of the Soldier came 12th in the Inkitt Fandom Contest!! 12th out of 1,710 is a brilliant result, so I want to thank everyone here who voted for me! It means the world to me, that my little story reached that high a place!
Anyway, I tink that’s it for me today, but I bet the other Weekend Coffee Sharers would love to see you too!
Thank you for having coffee with me! Same time, next week?

I’m so glad your DVDs finally arrived ands you’re right about when people laugh at someone for trying something new. My ex husband used to laugh at be and say stuff like “you’re never gonna do it” or ” all you need is well power”. He’s the kind that cannot keep the weight on so he never understood about getting it off.
Anyway, I have faith in you! You will do it. I know you will!

I am so glad your DVD’s arrived, that took a long time! Be sure to keep us posted. I didn’t get laughed at this week for trying to be healthy, but I did get kicked out of my local walking group for not being competitive enough. Ugh.

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that! What a stupid reason to kick someone out of a walking group!! How is a walking group competitive? I’m confused. I hope that does not discourage you! I’ve just done the Diamond Dozen today, and found out I can’t do it barefoot. The floor is too slippy for the push ups and down dog. Compensated by collecting leaves and clearing the driveway for 30 mins.

I am not discouraged, although I was frustrated for awhile. So I turned my frustration into a 6 mile walk. It was a fitbit step counting group, and I guess the leader wanted everybody to get as many steps as she did.
Do you have a good mat for your yoga? I can’t even do it without a good mat, it hurts my knees.

Congrats on the story!
Sorry to hear that you’ve been frustrated by some folks, but I think it’s great that you’re trying something new that can help you with your fitness while not being so strenuous as to be harmful. Good luck with it!

Hey, good luck with those yoga videos! I need to find something that works for me and I do think you’re right about working to get healthy because you want to, not because of someone else’s ideas.
Also, I’m glad I’m not the only one that gets excited about pens 🙂

No one who makes any effort should be mocked. There was a lady at my former gym who was laughed at. The owner of the gym kicked out the two mockers! I was so proud of him for taking a stance and not allowing any bullying to go on in his gym.
Congrats on the fabulous marks and contest results. That is so cool!
