If We Were Having Coffee… On October 24

Hello my lovelies!

It’s good to see you for our Weekend Coffee Share. How have you been? What have býou been up to tis past week? I have not seen much of the internet this past week as I am studying and writing like mad to make next Saturday’s course deadline.

But I need a coffee break, so I’m glad to be able to spend it with you!

If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that voting in the Inkitt Fandom Writing Contest has been extended by a week, so polls close on Wednesday, October 28. The Bravery of the Soldier, my Sherlock fanfic about how John Watson deals with his army past now that he’s a civilian is currently in 14th place out of 1,710!!!!

You can still vote – or vote again – so please help me stay in the Top 15! Clicking here will get you to the Contest page. Simply scroll to #14 and click the ♥ next to The Bravery of the Soldier to add your vote to it!

If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that my DDP Yoga DVDs have still not arrived, even though tracking says that they were handed over to DHL on October 9. I hope they get here soon because I really want to get started after Halloween. Mainly because Halloween is my deadline and I’m studying flat out to get everything done and I’m under too much stress to add something new to the routine right this second.  But once the deadline is over, I’ll get on that mat and I’ll also design a few Midori inserts to go with my fitness journal, like a recipe book and a collection of things that have helped me get in shape and lose weight in the past.

I got my therapy light out, and I am definitely more awake with it, to the point of having pulled three all-nighters over the last week. I’d rather get up late and work all day and night than get up early and work until evening, as I only really gain momentum between 7pm and 10pm.  I found that listening to instrumental music, like soundtracks, really helps me. It’s too quiet here otherwise. So I know that Doctor Who and Sherlock soundtracks will be on my Christmas wishlist, as they help me focus.

A day will come

Speaking of Doctor Who, I got sent a link to a song. I mean, I knew David Tennant can sing and does so quite frequently. And I’d heard Catherine Tate sing before in a parody. But the two of them together singing Sigh No More from Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing? Holy smokes. And I know it should be Balthasar, and here it’s Beatrice and Benedick singing, but it works! The “video”contains scenes from Much Ado About Nothing from 2011 at the Wyndham Theatre, which was set in early 80’s Gibraltar. I’m well impressed, so now I’m trying to find the full version. And the song  is just nerdy/geeky enough to make it on my playlist, especially as I doubt my friends could pin-point they’re actually singing lyrics penned by the bard himself. What do you think?

Anyway, my lovelies, it was nice to have coffee with you, but I’m afraid I’ve got to get back to studying. Wish me luck. If you still need more coffee, check out the other Weekend Coffee Sharers via our lovely hostess Diana at Part Time Monster or the #WeekendCoffeeShare tag on Twitter. I’m sure they’ll be just as delighted as I am to see you!

Thank you for having coffee with me! Same time, next week?

  1. I love listening to soundtracks while I work too. It helps me get into the mood to write. I see the NaNo 2015 badge in your sidebar. Do you want to buddy up? I’m Test Dummy over there. Long story! Send me a message. : )

  2. Congratulations and good luck with the contest. I like to listen to instrumental music on 8tracks.com when I write or work. Have a good week.
