As it is Banned Books Week, today’s quote comes from a recently banned book from New Zealand!
“‘This stone has drunk men’s blood. It has a history that our iwi share with others.’ ‘Where did it come from?'” – Into the River by Ted Dawe
Aren’t banned books all the more intriguing precisely because they were banned? I wonder if those who label them as such have thought about this.
Anyway, I didn’t know it was ‘banned books week’. I’ve learned something! 🙂

What’s an “iwi?” I’m curious, and I’m wondering why this book was banned.

Just knowing it’s banned would make me want to read it, to see what all the fuss is about.
