It’s Study. Read. Write’s first blog anniversary today and I never would have thought that I’d be saying this to more than 1,154 followers!
Over the last year, this blog has seen a lot. Some of the things this blog covered were the start (and current progress) of my M.A. in Cross-Cultural Communication, but also NaNoWriMo, Camp NaNoWriMo and a total of four Rounds of Words in 80 Days so far.
Today is (inter)National Coffee Day. I don’t think I would even be typing this without that little bit of dark magic in a cup.
When I started this blog and my M.A. I thought I’d do the student thing again and study in coffee shops and cafés and review some coffee in the process. However, my work and study schedule and my wallet teamed up on me and decided this was a no-go, which is why I’ve been reduced to drinking Guatemalan filter coffee and instant coffee for my quick fix.
Top Ten Tuesday is the brainchild of The Broke & the Bookish. Every Tuesday, we compile a list of our literary Top 10, and then add it to the blog hop.
Technicall,y this week is supposed to be all about the Top 10 Books To Read If You Like (insert title / author here). However, in honour of Banned Books Week, I have decided to do my Top 10 Banned Books instead! The following books have in the past been banned in at least one country.
The entire Shire is buzzing today, because it’s Hobbit Day! Not only that, but two lovely Hobbiton residents celebrate their birthday today.
I am of course referring to Messrs. Bilbo & Frodo Baggins, the uncle and nephew duo from Bag End who are entirely too adventurous for their own good.
Martin Freeman as young Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Elijah Wood as Frodo in Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Of course it’s been a while since Bilbo’s eleventy-first and Frodo’s thirty-third birthday. But that doesn’t stop me from decorating the Party Tree, gathering the entire Shire for the party – possibly with the exception of the Sackville-Bagginses, of course – and bringing out keg after keg of Southfarting Ale from the Green Dragon.
My goals for this week continue on from last week. I need to get assignments done for uni, I’m halfway through my book and I really like the Field Notes size for inserts, so I want to make more of them.
