If We Were Having Coffee… On July 4

Hello, my lovelies!

It’s great to see you for the Weekend Coffee Share! How are you today? Come in, come in, and make your way through to the patio. It’s 36°C out with clear blue skies. I put the parasol up and brought out the comfy pillows, and at least there’s a breeze outside. Inside it may be cooler but it’s stickier. I’ve got 2 fans running on high full-time now.

I’d offer tea and coffee (seeing as it is better to drink warm/hot as your metabolism doesn’t have to work as hard) but I’d also offer chilled water or orange-lemongrass sparkling lemonade. The latter is a recent discovery of mine and it’s not sweet, but it’s fruity, making it a perfect summer thirst-quencher.

If we were having coffee today, I’d wish all my American readers a fantastic Independence Day. I think it’s touching that you guys thank Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith every year for saving you (hehehehe).

If we were having coffee today, you might not recognise me at first glance. Gone is the dark red. I used Colour B4 last night and removed at least 8 years of colour built-up and I’m now proper ginger. It took ages, and it still darkened over-night a bit but I ended up with pretty much the colour I wanted to achieve. Darker in the tips of course, but I’m off to the hairdresser next week anyway .

If we were having coffee today I’d tell you that my study plan is sort of going ok. I’m getting university tings done but not much else, but I’ve already fallen behind again. Add to that, that I am the sole carer for my grandparents this weekend because dad’s on holiday and my mum and sister are taking a weekend trip and I was left here so nobody even bothered to ask whether I actually have time. Which I don’t.

I love my grandparents, but there is a reason I didn’t go into nursing or care as a career. Plus, unlike a professional, I have no idea what I’m doing.

So yes, I may postpone my College-themed series a bit until I feel things are a bit more under control and I can concentrate. I won’t get any time next weekend to study, so I really need to cram. I just wish my family would finally realise this. My main study times during the week are 3pm – 7pm and 8pm – 2am. The one-hour break is for dinner. Before 3pm I’m at work. In order to get my head around topics and write a decent paper, I can’t be interrupted every two hours. Because once I’m out of that “study zone” I find it extremely difficult to get back in.

So I apologize in advance in case this blog goes quiet for a few days every week. Please know I am still reading your posts, I just don’t find time to post much myself. If I can get through July and finish my assignments, I can take August off, and dedicate it more to things I like, like blogging, reading and hopefully finally setting up my Etsy store. As much as I’d like to spend my days blogging and reading, academia comes before hobby and if I can get through July I’ve bought myself a little breather and I can enjoy my holidays without deadlines looming over them.

I will, however, post an interview shortly. I spoke to young Hungarian pianist Elöd Ambrusz this week, and I am only waiting for the photos his family promised to provide, before I post it.

Anyway, this is a lovely summer day, and I’m going to soak up the sun while I can. Hopefully, I’ll at least get my reading done before I need to go, so that I only have to write afterwards.

Feel free to stick around, or head to one of the other Weekend Coffee Sharers via the lovely Part Time Monster!

Thank you for stopping by today. Same time, next week?

  1. I had almost forgotten about that movie, now I need to go find a copy. I’ve become crazy for hard lemonade, and it’s the tangy fruit factor. Hot temps just need something cool and fruity. I’ll have to keep an eye out for your orange-lemongrass sparkling lemonade, it sounds so good! Thanks for coffee.

  2. Independence Day is my favorite movie to watch on this day. I even mentioned it in a comment to Diana! I discovered a super drink for a hot day, and it’s healthy! The FB post I read it on called it Flat Tummy Water. I make it in a gallon pitcher: water, about a 1 1/2 inch piece of ginger sliced, 2 inches of cucumber also sliced, half a lemon sliced (rind and all), and mint. I don’t have fresh mint so I use a mint tea bag. It is very refreshing, healthy, and cheap. Just let it steep over night and enjoy it all day.
