If We Were Having Coffee… On June 20

Hello my lovelies!

I am so sorry I couldn’t participate in last week’s Weekend Coffee Share, but I’m here now with a massive pot of fresh coffee to make up for it!

How have you been? I’ve not been feeling very well. Bouts of headaches, lack of energy and concentration, plus the usual stress. I actually got acupuncture this morning to increase concentration, but so far it’s only given me a massive headache and the urge to lock myself in a dark room.

If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that I am really looking forward to my holidays. Only a month to go and I can’t wait to get out of here for a few days.

If we were having coffee we’d meet at my place. It’d be nice and cozy because even though today is Midsummer (normally my absolute favourite time of year), temperatures dropped again to 10°C.

Maybe this miserable weather is contributing to my current mood. Huge variations in weather (like, 33°C one day and 10°C the next) always play havoc with me and I’ve had enough of the rain now, thanks.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I had planned to move this meeting outdoors had the weather been bright and sunny. The landlord has had the gardener come round and it’s all tidy again, though I personally favour wild overgrown gardens and nature claiming what is hers.

If you, or someone you know, is heading to college / university after the summer, check out my list of 20 Things To Do The Summer Before College. Do you agree with them?  When I was starting at UCLan, I’d only managed to do about half of these things and sorely missed not getting to do the others. But my summer before university was a whirlwind of coming home from my gap year, seeing people and preparing to move to the UK. I didn’t get to pack properly or prepare anything or buy in bulk. I had to get everything in Britain on my first day. I arrived with 2 1/2 suitcases (my parents came with me and shared half a suitcase for a few days so I could pack everything I needed) full of the essentials. One for clothes and shoes, one for pillow, duvet, towels, toiletries and my trusty reference books, and half a suitcase of my favourite things I couldn’t leave behind. With my and mum’s carry-ons full of laptop, chargers, camera and software back-ups on CDs.

If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you that despite my best efforts I didn’t get much done last week. I had a terrific start and then it all went downhill again. I can’t find the concentration to sit and write 5 pages for uni. This blog is taking me long enough. I’m beginning to suspect the weather and my change in diet are taking their toll. I’ll have sugar in my coffee, see whether that helps at all.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I have plenty of ideas for my etsy shop – now I’m just waiting for payday to actually get supplies. Should be good.

I apologize for not being a good hostess today. Tonight is my dad’s birthday dinner and I don’t really fancy sitting in a brightly lit, noisy restaurant for four hours with this headache banging on. I hope you understand why I’m cutting this coffee share short today, but I encourage you to check out the other Weekend Coffee Sharers.

Thank you for having coffee with me today! Same time, next week?

  1. I did miss you last week! I’m so sorry you’re being bothered by headaches. Not good. Headaches can really put a damper on all the necessary every day things one MUST do. I hope you get rid of the headaches, soon!

  2. Hope you managed to get rid of the headache and that your upcoming week goes smoother. I’m interested in seeing what you come up with for the Etsy shop, too!
