How is it Wednesday already?
Time for another ROW80 Update.
While I’m doing my absolute best, it seems unlikely that I will finish my entire To Do List this week. It’s the week around the 10th, which is the busiest time in our office, and I had to put in a lot of overtime Monday and yesterday. This resulted in me doing pretty much nothing on Monday night, and trying to catch up yesterday.
The MA501 Assignment #4 I wrote last week came back from a friend who proof-read for me – and advised I rewrite it. So now I have to do three university assignments – MA501 #4, MA501 #5 and CCC502 #4 by Sunday, and I spent most of yesterday evening going over my notes and decided to start MA501 #4 from scratch again. I’ll get to that today.
I also completed Interviews module #1, which is just a short course giving advice on job interview tactics. And I completed the last module of Cultural Studies & Modern Languages last night, making it the first FutureLearn course I finished. I’ll send off for my Statement of Participation next week.
Writing creatively has got away from me a bit over the last few weeks due to all that university work, but last night something amazing happened: I’ve been invited to submit a short story of 2.000 – 7.000 words to a new Sherlock Holmes Anthology that is in the making!!
Looks like my NaNoWriMo 2013 novel impressed someone. The only problem is that the deadline is in 2 weeks’ time. As The Doctor would say: “It’s squeaky bum time!”
So now I just have to come up with a case for the detective and his faithful doctor and a believable setting for a Holmes story. “The game, Mrs. Hudson, is on!”
How are the other ROWers doing? Find out here.

OOO, you got this!! 🙂 Best of luck!!!

I love Sherlock Holmes, and I love how the updated series works so very well. I’m sure you’ll be able to write something for the anthology. 🙂 And, by the way, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Getting an invitation to something like that is totally awesome!
As for your school work, I’m sure you’ll be able to get that done on time, as well. Starting from scratch isn’t as difficult if you have a good handle on where you wanna take the piece, and I’m sure that, even if the first one didn’t work, you have a good map for it now. 🙂
Best of luck with all your goals!

Thank you!! I grew up on the Sherlock stories and I love the modern BBC show but I’m now trying to come up with an original take on Holmes & Watson for this short story.
The school work is going ok. I’m just finishing the re-write now, it just took up more time than planned – after all I only had 2 assignments planned and not three.

I’d love to read this anthology when it comes out. Will you let us know (she asked as if there was any doubt)?
