ROW80 – Midweek Madness

Hello, my lovely fellow ROWers!

I completely forgot that yesterday was Wednesday, so I’m a day late with my update, although there is not much to tell at the moment.

I didn’t write. Again. I’ve got loads of ideas, and I try to make a note of all of them, but other things like family and course assignments take precedence.

And this blog. It might not look like much, only posting Character Inspiration, Setting Inspiration and Story Prompts for most of the week, but they require research to give proper copyright acknowledgment and sometimes it does take quite a while to find that info.

Plus, there are my longer blog posts, like Transcribe Bentham, which was interesting (and I volunteered in the process) but was a subject I didn’t know too much about.

Or my Reading Challenge Help. That was more work than I thought, and it took me six days to research it and put it all together, double-checking facts and dates and getting pictures whenever I had a minute to spare.

For my 60 Books Challenge, I’ve made a start on the first book in my trilogy: The Vesuvius Club by Mark Gatiss, part of the Lucifer Box series also including Devil in Amber and Black Butterfly. I’ve not been able to read as much as I’d like because the only time I allow myself to read at the moment is when I’m in bed.  And for the past week, whenever my head hit the pillow I’ve been pretty much out cold before I could grab my book. I even fell asleep with lights, PC and TV still on and still in my work clothes once.

My studies are Number One priority now. Even though I’ve been fidgeting a bit, as I was waiting for a professor to clarify an assignment for me, as the wording was confusing (it started off with 1 article to review and ended on summarising several articles, so I had to make sure how many we were actually meant to read and review).

My supplementary courses have started and it’s a lot to do but hopefully worth it in the end. Luckily I stocked up on ink cartridges and Xerox paper because I do have to print a lot these days.

There’s still loads for me to do today, including planning and writing posts for 1.000 Voices Speak for Compassion (#1000Speak) which will take place tomorrow. I also need to finish one uni assignment, print the course material for one of my extra courses and complete the (small) tasks for Week 1.

Anyway, that’s what I’m up to, and will probably continue to do for the rest of the week. I only took a three-hour break yesterday to have coffee with an old classmate of mine from High School, whom I hadn’t seen in years. Yeah, I know, how dare I have a social life. So sue me. I had helped her out with an English text she needed for her undergrad dissertation, and in return she’s now offered  that she can get me books from her university’s library that I might not have access to otherwise. Win/win!

Right, I really need to go; lunch break at work is almost up. For more ROW80 news, check the other ROWers!

  1. It sounds to me like you’re doing a TON of writing, even if it’s not on the creative project(s) you had in mind for ROW80. That’s great! I envy the amount of energy you must have to pull off all this blogging on top of work and school. You’re a superstar! I hope you have a productive week, Conny!
