End of ROW80 Success!

Hello my dear fellow ROW80 participants!

The fourth Round of Words in 80 Days for 2014 ended officially on December 26, and while I didn’t stick to all my goals I originally posted, I still count this ROW80 a success!

My writing goals:

  • Write a short story each day. Poems also permitted. No matter what word count.
  • Alternate often between writing in English and German to build up more German stories (it IS my native language, after all)
  • Write in at least 4 genres other than fanfiction (but fanfic is also fine!)

My blogging goals:

  • Update Study. Read. Write. five times per week, even if it’s just a picture with writing prompts or inspiration
  • Update my travel blog Fernweh & Wanderlust at least 3 times a week, even if it’s just a travel-inspiring picture or recipe
  • Start German to English translation of Gap Year journal to include on Fernweh & Wanderlust

So how did I do?

I didn’t write a story or poem every day, but I did get a total of 71 shorts written, so I’m quite proud of that!

Writing in German was hard for me, even though it’s my native language. Out of the 71 only 12 are in German, but at least that’s a start for writing in German again.

I did write in various genres, at least I think so. There was Crime/murder/Detective, mystery, fantasy, non-fiction, poetry,  fanfiction, horror, drama, tragedy, thriller and one pretty much failed attempt at erotica. Not too shabby, if I say so myself.

Including this post, I have written 88 blog posts since this round of ROW80 began on October 6. That means I’ve written 1.1 posts per day on average for 80 days and therefore met and exceeded my goal of 5 blog posts per week!!

I revised my ROW80 goals on October 19 to exclude my travel blog from the list, as I had no updates for it and with studies, work and general life, I didn’t have time for translations.

All in all, I met most goals, except i didn’t manage to write every day. But I still made an effort, and missed only 9 days in total. Not bad, for my first ROW80. But how did the others do? Click here to find out!

Congratulations to all participants!

Fancy joining us for the next round?

Round 1 of ROW80 2015 starts on January 5 and will go until March 26. See you around!!
